Packing Time

The mamouth task that is wheedling down everything I own to a mere 20kg has begun. Thanks Dave for the use of your huge room.

While emptying out spare cards from my wallet (anything to save weight!), I discover that I've lost my credit card... Oops. It's probably been destroyed by First Great Western after I left it on a train on my way to Bath last week.

A quick check reveals no-one has bought anything while my card was AWOL, so now it's been cancelled and a new one will be on it's way just as soon as the Post Office decide they can get more money working than shirking...

The problem is, when I arrive at Banff Alpine Centre, they will try and draw payment from a card which no longer exists.

Maybe I can try and repay them with labour, washing up in the kitchen or something...

  • Now, who could of guessed that you could of lost your card? ;) I knew that it would of happened at some time or another. BTW, whoever that Dave guy is, that is a really nice room and although I can't see, I would imagine that it would have a projector and screen, not that I am saying anything, just seems the sort of cool guy who would do that

  • Lol, COLIN!!!!! Don't worry, thought I'd lost my Work Authorization Letter yesterday, practically tore the house apart. Then I look in that ONE drawer I neglected to check and hey presto.

So packing time...how many times have you gone over limit? You know its two bags and a limit of 35kg per bag?

  • Will- my limit is a mere 20kg, but I think I can have as many bags as I want (but only one hand lugage). But I am going cheap-o class with Thomas Cook. I'm flying out on Thursday- what about you?

And, unlike you unfortunately, I've not managed to find that vital thing I've lost.

Hmmm. Canada had better be ready for the disaster that is my personal admin...

  • I can only imagine! I'm taking a more complicated but scenic route to Vancouver. Going with Virgin to Chicago and then with Air Canada to Vancouver. Regretting already as Dad has told me that Chicago O'Hare is an absolute nightmare to transfer in!

Flying out next Tuesday morning, so you'll be well settled by then hopefully. I must visit you once I'm settled - only a Greyhound ride away!

  • Hi traveller

Glad to hear the flight was okay and hope by now you have had some rest. Many thanks to John for all help and support - what a lifeline, we are so very grateful.
Hope you got your admin sorted today and all goes well at your first port-of-call.
David is home now and busy sorting his cars for Sunday. We are all thinking of you and jealous as can be. Love Mum xxx

  • Colin.

Really good reading mate, sounds like your having a great time over there, even if your fingers are a little wrinkly from all that washing up! The gliding pics look fab and the food sounds mouth watering. Everything is fine in Bristol, no where near as exotic as Canada but hey only a couple more months and I'll be having similar experiences as you, can’t wait!! Anyway take care dude and I will keep myself updated on your travels. Peace for now, Simon
