(One Full Day Private Lesson, Snowboarding, Blue Runner, Complementary, Requests Jeremy Warkentin)
Well, the title explains it if you understand SSVSSSDS speak, but yesterday I was persuaded to go out on my board with Georgie, for a lesson with Jeremy. Georgie normally skis, but Matt (see previous post) had borrowed her skis, since they're great in the park, to teach a lesson. I normally ski, but I had hurt my wrist and didn't want to look retarded by a) skiing with no poles or b) using skiboards* which seem to carry a certain connotation (sic?) out here.
So Jeremy took us on a lesson, and we progressed! We were at a similar speed, although I seemed to fall over more frequently, and we quicky progressed onto blues, a bit of powder and even a black (see proof above!). Georgie had to leave us to return to work after about an hour, but Jeremy and I continued to make our way round the mountain with me gaining confidence and losing energy at a similar rate...
* A skiboard is the correct name for the short, twin tipped ski we normally call a snowblade. Snowblade is in fact a trademark of Salomon but has come to generalise similar equipment (hoover, kleenex etc etc). Isn't Wikipedia useful...
By the time we'd finished (which was just before the last lift closed), we had ridden 5 of the 9 major lifts, and gone down mostly blues with the odd black run. I started to lose confidence and energy on the last run, but Jeremy taught me well so I know I've got a good foundation for the next time I take the board out. Thanks mate!

I haven't been checking your blog as much as I should recently, CJ. However, I very much enjoyed catching up and especially enjoyed the -37 article. Thats must have been a really fabulous sking day. Glad that whatever kit you had was "up to it" and you were able to enjoy the skiing. Its pretty unpleasant when your breath freezes in your nose isn't it?
