Happy Birthday Sam!

I managed to remember that Saturday was Sam's birthday, so after a thoroughly noisy day in the OSL (the band, BC/DC, was screaming all afternoon).

8 friends joined Sam in her and Danny's room, where we made cake (unfortunately, someone put the unbaked cake on the floor and I proceeded to step in it, making my boot pink and the cake brown) and had strawberries and chocolate dip. Unusually for a birthday party, the birthday girl herself ended up making all the food...
After the food, we started the games. We had a shot snakes and ladders, and of course a pack of cards, most forfeits resulting in a drink...

Dave, our resident minstrel, joined us half way through the card game to play Happy Birthday and other well-known songs...

... and Dave concocted a new drink from HpnotiQ and Crush, call Hypno-Rush (of course) which was really tasty. Eventually, Jeremy was left mostly without clothes and we decided it was time to head over to Trapper's. I stayed behind because I didn't want to suffer too much in the morning, but the others all seemed to return about 10 minutes after leaving as Trapper's had degraded into craziness.

  • Greetings from Anchorage..!!

We see you have been busy, as usual, keeping this excellent blog of yours up to date and sharing all your news. Its a great read!

The bear story was interesting, particularly as we have been looking out for Alaskan wildlife this week. We've seen Orcas, sea otters, puffins, dolphins and we both think we saw a Humpback (in the distance). However, now the intrepid explorers are going inland and we had a good tip from a local.... Wear bells on your ankles to prevent startling the bears. Also look out for the droppings to idenitfy the type of bear - those from a Grizzly are the ones with bells and whistles in them!!!

As we do not expect to have much internet access over the next week, we look forward to a final check up when we get back to UK. But we'll visit before then if we have the chance..

    Happy gliding!!
