Mates' Mexican 'Magpie' Meal Memories
The "Magpie and Stump" is a Mexican themed pub/bar/restaurant in Banff, where Lindsay had decided to take us for her birthday. Retro inside, retro outside with lot of Mexican food and good drink, it was a pretty good choice for our party of 8 to go and have a good time.
While Matt, Georgie and Jeremy went first in Matt's truck, I followed on with Birthday Girl, her two mates from Toronto and Oly, another of our Aussie mates who'd just returned from a week back down under. Matt2 and Dee had rented a car from Calgary and it was pretty good to have the flexibility of coming and going as we pleased! Especially since the gondola ride took double the normal time with all the speeding up, slowing down and stopping (once for about 5 minutes!), and just as we were sliding into the base station we watched the final Banff-bound bus roll out of the car park... By the time we'd got to the M&S, Matt1, Jeremy and Georgie had already settled and found us a table.
We quickly ordered Nachos to start (and a margarita) then tried to decide what we wanted to eat properly. I soon found that Mexican food is pretty much all the same, both on paper and on the plate- as Matt2 pointed out, 'it's all just the same layers, but in different orders and shapes and with a different name'. Tostadas for me (think: Taco, but flat), then another drink while Lindsay received her 'birthday surprise'. See below:

The whole team
After some more drink and the Magpie's signiture 'all you can eat peanuts', it was a trip to Safeway (picking up another random Sunshine friend on the way) then back to the gondola.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDSAY!
