Lazy Day 2

On Monday evening, we went to the liquor store and a couple of hours later we were ordering a Pizza in a local restaurant. The pizza was fantastic (and only $9), but I couldn't finish it so 'doggy bagged' it for munching later. Got back into my room well after midnight. Then was kept up by a gang of French singing something to the tune of Happy Birthday, but to call it a 'tune' would be misleading.

Yesterday: I had a massive lie-in- 10:00. Very nice. But how I'm going to get back into the swing of getting up at 5:00 for the weekend I don't even know!

After a hearty 6-pancake breakfast (free!), I ventured into town with a mate from the SameSun- he's a musician and is looking for a notepad to jot down his musical ideas. At this point we realised that Banff is a great place for tourists to shop, but not so fantastic for the mundane things like stationary! After browsing gift shop after gift shop, we found ourselves at the end of town- and a book shop. We went in (of course they had notepads), and I impulsively bought myself a book -'How to be a Canadian'- a fantastic tounge-in-cheek manual of what it is to be a Canadian. It starts by describing the flag as a giant nosebleed...

After the lack of any transport squashed my ideas of hiking up to Sunshine, we came back to the SameSun and reheated lunch. A bit more lounging around, looking for accommodation and generally enjoying doing nothing, we were going to go out and try the slackline in the park. I went to put my laptop in my room. Unscrambled the padlock- opened the locker- replaced the padlock- put my laptop away. Closed the locker- padlock disappeared. No-one else in the room. A quick search yielded nothing. A thorough search yielded nothing. Emptying out all the lockers, searching the whole floor and a whole host of impossible locations still did not find my padlock!!! It had simply vanished!

So I ran to the shop and bought a new one for $8, paranoid the whole time that someone would break in and steal my stuff. Even now, there is no sign of the disappearing padlock...

Dinner yesterday was sausages (too spicy), potato and carrot mash (too much), beans with pork and molasses (too sweet) and onions (too burnt). But it was still tasty and certainly filled me up.

We then lounged around and watched some TV, then I went to bed in the hope I could get up earlier this morning to prepare me for Friday. No such luck. I wasn't out of bed till 10:00 again...
