Lazy Day 3
Damn. Failed to get up early again yesterday. Tomorrow's going to be a bit painful...
I don't think I did very much yesterday morning (then again, there wasn't very much of the morning). Finished off the pasta bake (which lasted me 7 meals for $6, now THAT's bargain eating!) and the pizza from a couple of days ago.
A friend lost her purse in a phone box- panic! But a quick check with the police station revealed it had just been handed in. So we ambled along, to find that some person from Nova Scotia had handed it in without taking a single thing. The Canadians certainly seem more honest than the average Brit...
Next we went to have a look at the Banff Centre, the main sports and arts complex. They've got a very nice facility complete with pool, hot tub, climbing wall, gym, gymnasium and squash courts, which you can use for about $50 a month. I'll look into becoming a member when I'm settled and when I think I can afford it.
Then we got sucked intothe Rose and Crown (to celebrate, among other things, the return of the wallet and everyone else getting accommodation. 3 hours and many jugs of beer later we found ourself at The Living Room, a centre for support groups, information and homeless people, where they were giving out free pasta and pasties! It was a really nice place, all run by volunteers, with nice food and a good atmosphere so I might start volunteering there once a week- volunteering looks great on a CV, and you get to meet other people of varying levels of skint and eat free food...
On the return to my room, I had an email from Shannon, my now-ledgendary employer. She has found me accommodation at Banff Springs (a housing area near town just across the Bow River). I move in on Wednesday the 7th.
