Colin In Canada

Back to my day-job (which has its advantages over some of the night-jobs...)

Sunday was just a normal day in the Old Sunshine Lodge. Sunday evening was just an abnormal evening- a staff christmas party in the Day Lodge! I'm very glad I don't do evening shifts, seeing all the staff who came in wearing their uniform before going back to work... Roast turkey dinner, 2 free drinks, plenty of people I knew but so many more I didn't, and some rather wacky dancing (not on my part, I'll have you know)- it was a good night out. If only I'd had more money! 2 drinks isn't enough for a proper party! That's not even enough to make me dance!

That brings me to Monday, another normal day down at Guest Services, apart from the spectacle of a new restaurant being hauled up the ski-out to construct the new Goat's Eye Restaurant, in the form of huge trailers on much smaller trucks, being assisted by a snow cat (the only time I've seen one get stuck). An evening playing monopoly, and, repeating my theme from the Juniors, I won (of course)- but in substantially less time than last time... No T-shirt for me, though!

And finally Tuesday, today. I'm working back in Guest Services, on my own, which is why I've found the time to type up this blog entry. On Friday I'll be skiing in Lake Louise if I can borrow $5 for the bus, then picking brother David up! And a new chapter will begin!

  • Hey Cj, absolutely enthralled by your latest blog entries and loved the photos, many thanks for keeping us snowless landlubbers so entertained.

Many congratulations on passing your ski Instructors course and coping with the hypothermic conditions. If you are taking bookings for end of season ski lessons - yes please, book me in!

It sounds as if you have a lot of variety in your weeks and whe you start your musical gigs there will be yet another phase. Good luck with that, but guess you willbe pretty busy with all the rehearsing.

I am just off to golf now (its -3 outside) so what, you say, that sounds like a heatwave. But alas, we don't golf in skiwear so the extremities can be more than a little refreshed!

I'll be in touch soon but in the meantime, thank you for all the preparations you have put in place for your bro.

    Happy skiing. Take care.......
