Settling in. Enjoying the perks. And meeting the natives.
Saturday I planned to take a trip to Lake Louise to watch the men's downhill World Cup- but that plan went out the window when I woke up 10 minutes before the bus left and still wanted some more bed-time. I went for a ride (and was the first 'guest' down one of the runs which opened just as I slid down to it), and tested out my new skis. They're quite stiff, so although not ideally suited to moguls and bumpy terrain they carve absolutely beautifully and feel great! I still need to adjust to the new length and girth, but it looks like I made a great buy. AND my feet didn't get too cold... I did some more moving in, some much-needed washing, and relaxed in front of the TV for the first time in ages! Ahhh...
Sunday was back to work, business as usual including the token 'difficult customers'. I also went into the hot tub for the first time. This 20-person (although the record is well over 40) tub is boiling hot and steams like a train the in -10 ambient temperature. A good trick is to wet your hair. You soon end up with frozen dreadlocks covered in snow (because the steam turns into snow in a matter of seconds), while your head still stays nice and warm. I met loads of the on-hill staff there, and it's a great crowd of about 100.

You just lay back and relax there....
Good thing you're Hot Tub trained. We parents have so much to answer for :-)
Thanks for the updates Colin. Very much enjoyed reading the backlog. Keep at it... (can you tell us more about your Mon-Thurs exploits last week?)

Welcome back on line - you have been missed. It has been great to catch up with all you moves - crumbs, more march-outs than in the army (I blame your upbringing!!!) However, it now sounds as if HR is extrememly convenient and it will pay dividends in time saved - very well done for all the efort you put in.
Loved hearing about your skiing exploits and being such a powder hound- you are going to have the creanof conditions over the next few months and with two types of skis you can cherry-pick which you use.
I'm not sure what dad has updated you on but suffice it to say, we are all fine and have even got our christmas cards written. things are nice and peaceful at No 95 now that the groundworks are completed and it will be a few months before the next phase starts (March).
Its a mild, grey and damp day today (13 deg)- just so typical of a British winter and emphasises the fact why we always try to get a 'white one'. Ho hum, with reports that Europe is getting a good dump we will just have to be content with the fact that we are going in January.
I bet you have go your ski legs now and hope you have solved the problem with feet - have you tried those little warming bags yet. I understand about the ski sock situation and I believe santa is also on the case.
Take good care and I look forward to hearing from you soon. xxxxxx

Crikey! What a HUGE update! Glad to hear that you are now sorted out with everything including internet. All is well over here, although lessons are much harder than I thought they were going to be, I am coping. It's nice to have an easy IT lesson to always fall back on and just chill out.
Your purchases including the skis, boots and helmet seems nice. I really can't wait to come to sunshine to see you and have a brilliant 2 and a half week skiing holiday! Only 8 days left woo!!!!
Email me if you get the chance there are a few things that I would like to clear up on.
Your Bro
