Yesterday... (all my troubles seemed so far away...)
I've seen the error of my ways, and have been persuaded to add more photos to keep this nice and colourful...
Yesterday, after a late getup and some beans on toast, I made some pancakes. Now don't confuse this with the easy mix-it-up-and-splatter-on-the-griddle method, oh no. The griddle was broken so we used the more traditional Frying Pan. After producing 3 small but perfectly formed pancakes (by using a small but perfectly formed frying pan) in varying degrees of carbonisation, just as I was tipping my final creating into the bowl, we were plunged into darkness, so my pancake missed my bowl... But I got off lightly, someone was just about to tip their mixture into their pan... Power was restored just in time for me to wash up, then I went to my staff meeting.
Tim Hortons doughnuts provided the nourishment and our management provided an hour of 2008 targets and praising much longer-standing and harder-working employees than myself. But everyone was also given a Pischer (a beer) holdall, which was a good gesture. On chatting with manager JC, she said that as soon as I know how many nights I wanted to work, I just come along and stick them on the rota, which I'll do once I know when Sunshine want me.
Deer strut around Banff as if they own the place- this one just jaunts across the road and starts nibbling at a tree outside a nearby hotel. Then J-walks back and holds up some more traffic. That's whythe speed limit here is under 20mph...
Then a wander into town, a quick check told me my bank balance was completely void of funds, and a shop at Safeway with $2 disount and a few more air miles thanks to my Safeway card... On coming out of one of the many Malls in Banff, I found myself chatting to an Oz gal who was jobhunting and also staying at the SameSun. So, with nothing else to do (considering my funds, a free doughnut sufficed for lunch), I helped her drop in resumes at various places. We went back to the Keg, where Liana applied for a job as a breakfast cook (she's done that before), and I picked up the pay cheque I hadn't realised I needed to cash. Back into town, cashed the cheque, discovered some new shops, and had a look for some more socks (I'm having to do a wash every 4 days now that one Brasher and one black sock are MIA).
Left to right: Laura (EN), Kate (OZ), Zander (OZ), Haley (OZ), Jamie (OZ), Chris (EN), Dave (OZ). Missing: Liana (OZ) eating tortellini elsewhere, Jeff (SCOT) in Brazil playing Ultimate Frisbee, Richard (EN) in bed, James (EN) at work, Mia (EN) back home, and myself (EN) taking photo.
We came back to the SameSun to find that Zander and Jamie had cooked up a big roast for our microsociety (only $7!), which was absolutely fantastic, even including roasted garlic, pumpkin, sweet potato and a warm crusty roll along with all the traditional roast ingredients. Choc chip and fudge cookie dough icecream and Vienetta for pudding. The girls washed up (of course).
In the main lobby, Saw was put on, which none of us fancied, so we watched Team America: World Police upstairs on Laura's laptop. Then bed.
This morning, there was a nice blue sky and snow on the ground. It will be gone by midday, but it's a start (and another inch for Sunshine). Today, I will go and find some more socks and a duvet cover. The sheet I've incredibly cleverly tied to the corners of my duvet is beginning to be a pain... I might also buy a bike. I have the money...

Great, you have finally managed to get your pictures back on your blog, after lots of bugging! Well, it does make it a lot nice to read, I made it back to school, finally, and now I am just getting on with my work.
Good that you finally got paid, I hope that you get your credit card now which should help you and give you your well needed contingency (dad, eat your heart out). Can't wait to see you out there, now I have my laptop on wireless, I hope to check the blog everyday so when you update it, I will know!
Glad that your having a good time.

What fab friends you have in your micro society, cooking a roast dinner for you all. Its great that you've fallen on your feet so well. When you collect your mandolin you'll be able to lead them in a sing-song!
